8/18/05 Indiana Corn Organizations Sign Management Agreement with Soybean Board

soybean farmers in indiana.jpgLt. Governor Becky Skillman joined farmer-leaders from Indiana's corn and soybean organizations in announcing a new management agreement that aims to build stronger market demand for corn and soybeans and provide better service to Indiana farmers.

"As we move Indiana agriculture forward we must create partnerships that will increase efficiency, speak in common voices, and grow demand for Indiana farmers," remarked Lt. Governor Skillman, who also serves as Indiana's Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. "This new agreement between Indiana's corn and soybean organizations will strengthen Indiana's ability to develop new markets for Indiana grain producers. In particular, this is a huge step forward in making Indiana the global leader in the production and development of bio-fuels.

Monroe County Using Renewable Fuel in City, County and University Vehicles

Monroe County and Bloomington residents will soon be able to breathe a little easier thanks to the 'Clean Team' of five local agencies that have made recent commitments to use renewable fuel in city, county, and university vehicles as of August 1, 2005.

Indiana REMC Powering Customers With Soy

New Electric Transformers Filled with Soy Oil a Safer, Cleaner Alternative

soy based technology in indiana.jpgLINDEN, Ind., January 27, 2005 — New soy-based technology will soon be powering electric customers in Tippecanoe and Montgomery County as a result of the Tipmont Rural Electric Membership Cooperative’s (REMC) recent acquisition of overhead transformers filled with soybean oil-based Envirotemp® FR3™ dielectric fluid. 

 

Envirotemp FR3, manufactured by Cooper Power Systems, reduces the risk of transformer fires and extends transformer life over conventional, petroleum-based dielectric fluids.  Tipmont REMC is the first REMC in Indiana to commit all its overhead transformers to this new technology.

 

Indiana Leading Nation In Biodiesel Distribution Infrastructure

indiana soybean field.jpgA key member of the Hoosier biodiesel team, Countrymark Co-op is proud of the success and enthusiastic reception of alternative fuels. Soy biodiesel is on the rise in Indiana with over 50 million gallons of soy biodiesel since January 1, 2005.

At a 2005 St. Patrick's Day grand opening event, Indiana soybean farmers, fuel retailers and state government leaders opened a soy biodiesel blending facility that will deliver millions of gallons of clean, "green" fuel to south central Indiana fuel retailers and diesel consumers.

The new biodiesel-blending facility is located at Countrymark Co-op's Greene County terminal, near Switz City, Indiana. This terminal serves fuel retailers in south central Indiana and is the third fuel terminal in Indiana with this unique blending capability.

 

The First Terminal in the Nation to Offer Biodiesel Blended Fuels

In 2003, Countrymark Co-op's Jolietville, Indiana, facility became the first terminal in the nation to offer biodiesel-blended fuels

A year later, the company's Peru, Indiana terminal began offering biodiesel-blended fuels to retailers in northern Indiana.
